MAKING AN IMPACT
Our team didn't just film; we immersed ourselves in the foster care community. From building relationships with local organizations to volunteering our time, we worked alongside caregivers, social workers, and foster children to understand their experiences firsthand. This hands-on involvement allowed us to tell more authentic, impactful stories and contribute to meaningful change in Dayton’s foster care system.

Donations
We were committed to ensuring our donations made a direct, meaningful impact. After researching where our resources would have the greatest effect, we chose to support FosterLove and their initiative to end the "trash bag" problem—where foster children are forced to carry their belongings in plastic trash bags. By contributing to their efforts, we helped provide duffel bags for every child in need.
Volunteering
Volunteering with children, particularly when law enforcement and trauma are involved, can be challenging. However, we were determined to support our community in meaningful ways. To help, we participated in food, toy, and clothing drives, including organizing a clothing drive on campus to benefit local organizations.
Awareness
To raise awareness, we dedicated every Wednesday to sharing important facts and statistics about foster care on our Instagram, helping to educate and inform our followers. We also made it a priority to engage with foster care organizations and nonprofits online, offering support and amplifying their messages to reach a wider audience. Through these efforts, we aimed to foster a deeper understanding of the issues facing the foster care community.
Educating
Before we could educate others, we made it a priority to educate ourselves. We spoke with foster children, social workers, foster parents, and other key figures in the foster care system, striving to gain a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and realities involved. By fully immersing ourselves in the foster care community, we were able to approach the issue with greater empathy and insight, ensuring our efforts to educate others were rooted in real, firsthand knowledge.
